A Warm and Meaningful Lesson on Peace, Kindness, and Teamwork

"Finding Peace in the Storm" is a gentle, comforting story that helped me understand how to choose peace even when emotions feel big. I really loved the idea of the lantern that reflects what is happening inside the children's hearts—it was such a clear and meaningful way to show how conflict affects everyone. The camp setting and teamwork made the lesson feel real and relatable, especially for young children. Another part I appreciated was how the story encourages slowing down, listening, and forgiving instead of blaming. The faith-based message is soft and natural, never heavy, and easy for both children and adults to enjoy. This book feels like a calm reminder that choosing kindness and connection can bring light back, even in the middle of a storm.

Finding peace- Overcoming conflict Together!

Finding Peace in the Storm is a book about a group of friends who attend Peacemaker Camp to learn about peace- one of the biblical fruits of the spirit. Peace is defined as a state of harmony, quiet, and freedom from conflict. At camp, the 4 children face different conflicts or disturbances that cause distress. Their group is given a lantern at the beginning of camp that reacts to their behaviors- flickering if their peace is being challenged and going out when their peace has been completely disrupted. By observing the lantern, they learn to come together and when they do, the lamp reflects the change. They learn that their reactions or responses to the challenges that they face directly relate to their peace and the peace of those around them. This is a beautifully illustrated book that would be a great tool to help break down what peace actually means- as definitions can be elusive or hard to grasp for young children. I would be interested in reading the rest of the books in this series to complete a fruit of the spirit lesson(s) with my kids or Sunday school class!

Let's work together

This book is for children, but it can also be a reminder to adults, that if we work together, we can make it through the storms of life together. If we don't work together and are mean to each other, we will not make it through the storms together, we just make things worse. So it will teach your child this simple principle and make them a better person in this world.
